Søren Ryge Petersen

Søren Ryge Petersen (born 31 July 1945) is a Danish tv host, journalist and writer.

Biography

He was raised in Achtrup, Schleswig-Holstein.[1]

Petersen is M.A. in Danish language from Aarhus University.[2] He is self taught in horticulture, and was editor of the magazine Haven (the garden) published by The Danish Garden Society from 1978 to 1990.[3] He also wrote for Politiken.[2]

He started working for Danmarks Radio in 1977.[2] In 1988 he got his own program, DR Derude on DR1,[4] a garden program filmed in his own garden at Djursland. Throughout the show he was followed by a camera crew while he presented flowers, crops and how he maintained his garden. In 1992, the program went live under the name of DR Derude Direkte.[2] which is a The program was later renamed to Søren Ryge. Live show number 100 was broadcast on 6 August 2008 and presented a series of clips from the earlier shows.

With the program DR Derude Søren Ryge Petersen has made a series of shows for DR,[4] presenting the nature of the world and its people. Particularly, he has visited some simple men to portray their way of living.[2]
